Doesn’t everyone love reading the About Me sections of these things?? I know I do.
Reading the About Me section of a new blog is like a peek inside the essence of someone…their whole reasoning for starting a blog in the first place! I hope I live up to your expectations!
My name is Michelle. I am 22 years old, I graduated college last year, and am now a full-time Master’s student, and hold down a job.
I was born and raised in New York State (not NYC!), and currently attend grad school in NYS as well. For privacy purposes, I’m going to leave it at that
While I’ve never been overweight, I’ve got hips haha! I’ve always been a little bit curvier than some, and while I wasn’t overweight exactly, I needed to hop on the healthy eating train ASAP! It took me until my freshman year of college to realize this. No, I didn’t gain the dreaded Freshman 15, or any other weight, but I did have a lightbulb moment where I realized that exercise should be a part of everyone’s lives…at least a little bit!
SO I began jogging along some trails on my college campus a few times a week. Nothing major, and I didn’t really change my eating habits much (which weren’t AWFUL, but definitely needed some improvement). But I felt a bit better about myself knowing that I was doing something healthy for my body.
Sophmore year arrived and this is when I really kicked it into gear. I don’t recall the exact moment or reasoning behind it, but I began eating a LOT better, and exercising much more regularly. I became conscious of food labels, the amount of calories I should be taking in daily, whole grains, fruits and veggies…the whole nine yards. I continued running outdoors, and as it got colder I began working out on the elliptical machine and treadmill in my school gym a few times a week. Over the summer (when at home) I joined a gym and continued the healthier lifestyle I had discovered at school.
Junior year was another success…somewhere along the line (I didn’t weigh myself often) I had lost 10 lbs! While this wasn’t my goal, it sure was a motivator! I bumped up my gym time to 4-5 days a week, about 30-45 mins. each time I went. I continued healhty eating, and then I found food blogs! My first blog I discovered was Cristin’s blog over at Self: Eat Like Me. I was HOOKED! Through her blog, I found Kath’s blog then Jenna’s (Eat, Live, Run). It was an eye-opening experience to find out that SO many other people out there had the same interests and goals as I did: FOOD, of course, and staying fit and healthy! I now read MANY blogs everyday (probably many of you reading this…I was a lurker haha) and love each and every one of them for their uniqueness! No two are exactly alike, and they all offer something different to a reader like me. I hope that my blog can offer something to all of you, whether it be an interesting fact, a fun recipe, or just friendly person to talk to.
Currently, I am at a place where I am not quite comfortable with myself anymore. I exercise 4 days a week most of the time, about an hour of cardio and a little strength training thrown in. I KNOW how and what to eat to maintain a healthy lifestyle, however sometimes I stray a bit from that, and therefore am not at my ideal weight, but hope to get there soon.
I cannot WAIT to keep exploring the world of blogging and making connections with all of you! Thanks for taking the time to read this, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!!
